Scot to be all lined up in a nice little Ro for Campbell

-

RO Campbell caused a bit of a stir back in 2010 when he was crowned Scottish Comedian of the Year — no doubt a controversial decision, given that he’s a born-and-bred Aussie.

Now Hobart audiences can find out why he’s such a hit overseas, with the UK-based comic set to headline Jokers Comedy Club next week.

Campbell has taken his cheeky and slightly dark brand of comedy to more than 40 countries around the world, presenting solo shows at events such as the Glasgow International Comedy Festival, the New Zealand Comedy Festival, the Adelaide Fringe, Perth Fringeworld and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

He has also performed extensively on the club circuits of Europe, the Middle East, South-East Asia and India.

Campbell has performed at the past 10 Edinburgh Fringe festivals, making it on to The Scotsman’s prestigious Best Jokes of the Fringe list in 2009, as well as co-producing the hit show

Comedian Rap Battle between 2013 and 2015.

He has also toured extensively with high-profile headliners Tom Stade, Russell Kane and Kevin Bridges, and performed for (literally) captive audiences at several maximum-security prisons.

Campbell is currently back in Australia to present his latest show, If

Ned Kelly Were King, at the MICF. But first he’s coming to Hobart for one night only, to headline Jokers Comedy Club at the Polish Corner in New Town from 8pm on Wednesday.

He will be joined by Melbourne comedian Kelly Fastuca, local supports and guest host Rob Braslin. Tickets are $22 pre-sale from

www.jokerscomedy.com.au and Centertainment (phone 6234 5998), or $25 at the door (if not already sold out).
