Fruit fly ignored

- Bruce Norman Brighton Anthony Mularczyk North Hobart

ON a trip through the northern parts of the state last weekend which included passing through the fruit fly exclusion zone, although there was a proliferation of very large blue election posters along the roadside verges, we did not see even one notice of a similar size warning about the fruit fly risk, or providing instructions about the disposal of fruit when leaving the area. Stand up on gun laws

WILL Hodgman and his out-of-touch Liberals need to back away from their plan to weaken our gun laws. Tasmanians do not want to change our gun laws which were introduced with tri-partisan support following the Port Arthur tragedy. It beggars belief the Liberals would even consider winding back laws that protect us. We have some of the best gun laws in the world. There was absolutely no community consultation around this grubby plan and the only reason we found out about it A new way to have your say themercury.com.au readers have a new way to have their say. Spend how we want

LABOR and Greens just don’t get it, that the people of Tasmania will not be dictated to by them about how we spend our time and money. If the stupid 0.4 per cent of the population go and lose their money more fool them. Those of us who have a few brains set our limit and stick to it. What is next? Horse racing, Keno, drinking, smoking. The election result said it all but they cannot see the forest for the trees. I am pleased to see that the Greens have become irrelevant.

Houses, not cable car rides

GET real Liberal Government. A cable car ride is a luxury. Providing homeless Hobartians with housing is a pressing need and should be a priority over a cable car. We all know how cold the winter gets here, especially for the vulnerable homeless. Let’s get real and compassionate and house them pronto because kindness matters.
