Porte maze enters twilight zone

-

A CROP maze crafted in honour of Tasmanian cycling star Richie Porte will be thrown open to the public for a one-off twilight session on Saturday.

The maze, which depicts Porte accelerating away from a peloton, is the brainchild of Rowan Clark, owner of Ru- pertswood Farm at Hagley in northern Tasmania.

The image of Porte leading the peloton up the French Alps was designed by international maze specialists Mazescape, and opened on February 24.

Mr Clark expects the inaugural twilight session to be a hit.

“Visitors just love the maze, however, some are very keen to challenge themselves further and navigate the maze at night,” Mr Clark said.

“Evenings on the farm, especially at twilight, are pretty special so we expect this to be a popular event.”

It is Mr Clark’s fifth crop maze and took him eight hours to mow into a 4ha crop.

It has attracted about 2500 visitors to date.

“So far, the response has been overwhelmingly positive and people really love our ‘Richie’ theme,” Mr Clark said.

The Rupertswood Farm twilight crop maze will be open to the public on Saturday, from 6.30-8pm, with gates closing at 10pm.

Visitors must bring their own torches. More information is available at www.rupertswoodfarm.com.au
