How the world reacted to Smith disgrace

has made a decision to do this, that they’ve gone and got the young kid that’s playing his eighth Test match to do that. As a leader, you can’t ask somebody to do something you’re not willing to do yourself. It’s premeditated cheating. It’s blatant cheating. It’s disgraceful. It’s not accepted by anyone, particularly in Australia. We’ve got the best bowling attack in the world. We don’t need to cheat.

Unfortunately this is blatant cheating and Steve Smith will have to step down as captain.

Steve Smith, THERE was an escalating school of thought yesterday that Bancroft was the “mule’’ in this operation, sent to do the dirty work that senior players wouldn’t do after they hatched the plan. But don’t feel sorry for him. He is not 12 years old. There are primary school children who would be strong enough to say no to ball tampering. He knew damn well what he was doing. his Team and ALL the management will have to accept that whatever happens in their careers they will all be known for trying to CHEAT the game ... #SAvAUS. The more you think about what has happened in Cape Town the more I realise the leadership needs to be replaced ... positions are untenable ... and I say that with the utmost respect for most of that group ... If there was ever a week to be bowled out for 58 and no one will give a s--- ... England you are bloody very smart!!!!

I’m just catching up on all the news re SA v AUS. Gutted.

Shocked & disappointed #SAvsAUS.

This will be talked about not just today but for long time.

Teammate of mine [Bancroft], known him since he was 13. Disappointing. Out of character. Eagerly awaiting the fallout from this.

I’m extremely tired but I just can’t sleep now after watching that footage.

Smith has admitted not merely cheating, but planning to cheat. By his own actions, Smith’s position as captain is untenable.
