Tent’s final flourish

THE Spiegeltent Hobart season will come to a close on Sunday night, with much-loved Adelaide folk, blues and roots duo The Audreys to bring the curtain down.

After forming The Audreys in 2004, Taasha Coates and Tristan Goodall wasted no time asserting themselves as one of Australia’s best new acts, winning the Best Blues and Roots Album ARIA Award for their debut album Between Last Night & Us — which featured the popular singles Oh Honey and You & Steve McQueen. Proving that their early success was no fluke, The Audreys picked up more ARIA Awards for their second and third albums, When the Flood Comes (2008) and Sometimes The Stars (2010). While their 2014 fourth album ’Til My Tears Roll Away was nominated but didn’t win the ARIA Award, it did receive widespread critical acclaim and spawned the singles Ballad for the Fallen, Baby, Are You There? and My Darlin’ Girl, which was short-listed for the Vanda & Young Songwriting Competition.

In between releasing albums The Audreys toured constantly, gracing the stage of most major Australia festivals and of clubs across Europe and North America. They’ve also had their songs feature in international films, TV and theatre shows.

The Audreys recently toured Australia performing Between Last Night & Us, selling out shows across the country.

The tour went so well that the band has decided to go straight back out on the road again, starting with a one-off performance in The Spiegeltent on the Hobart waterfront from 8.30pm on Sunday. Tickets are $40/$35 concession, go to www.spiegeltenthobart.com for bookings.
