CRICKET CHEATING FALLOUT

- Steven Mitchell Kingston Paul Haddad Sandy Bay Roger McGinniss Kingston H. Stevenson Lauderdale

I AGREE with Harry Stanton (Letters, April 2). The penalties handed out to Smith, Warner and Bancroft by Cricket Australia are far in excess of those which would have been handed out overseas, and I don’t blame the trio for considering legal action. For too long, certain Australians have sanctimoniously lectured other cricketing nations (and in sports in general) on how to behave. Now the pulpits/ soapboxes have been swiped from under them, and they don’t like it. Other countries, however, will doubtless heave mighty sighs of relief. An end to Oz “holier than thou” posturing? Let’s hope so. South African Cricket Board of Control. Compare that with the harsh penalties imposed on Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft. It is clear to see which country takes cheating seriously.

Election signs still up

IN Kingston we still have advertisement signs from the last state election being displayed in the area. Are the candidates/parties going to get around to taking down their signs? As per council regulations, are not these signs supposed to be taken down within two weeks of the election?

Get us moving

WHY not reintroduce exercise through TV and electronic devices? It would help young mothers, seniors and others at home who are not confident or because of the weather cannot go for walks and who may have no time or money for gym visits. There may be more ideas needing promotion to get us moving?
