How will you enjoy locating a missing dog or cat when so many people in your street are temporary and thus cannot or are not interested in helping you? They didn’t have the glamour and elite competition of the Olympics but they had a delightful retro appeal, like a church fete in a small country town. It can’t inspire us any more. Australia needs to look to its own future, maintaining friendly relationships with those with whom we trade, expand our South East Asian markets and friendships and perhaps withdraw slightly from our relationships with England and the US, instead of being the perpetual little brother to them.
