Dog star, Tiger gun week ban

- JAY CLARK

STAR Western Bulldogs’ midfielder Lachie Hunter has been suspended for Saturday night’s clash with Fremantle in Perth.

And Richmond will be without second-year hard nut Jack Graham for Tuesday night’s Anzac eve blockbuster against Monday at the MCG.

The pair were yesterday offered one-match bans by match review officer while Michael Christian, while five other players, including Sydney superstar Daniel Hannebery, were fined.

Hunter was rubbed out for shoving his hand into the side of the head of Sydney forward Tom Papley when the pair tangled on the ground in the Swans’ win on Saturday.

Christian said the penalty was “straightforward”.

“There was no question in our minds that it was an intentional action and there was certainly enough force from Lachie in Papley’s face to get to low impact,” Christian said.

The Western Bulldogs will consider an appeal before today’s 10am deadline.

Graham struck Dayne Zorko with a high elbow in the third term of Richmond’s 93point belting.

Zorko had launched a long kick when Graham came in from the side and made high contact.

Graham is now ineligible to win the Rising Star award.

West Coast’s Mark LeCras was cleared for his bump on Gold Coast youngster Ben Ainsworth.
