DUCHESS GIVES BIRTH TO THIRD CHILD — A LITTLE PRINCE
A PRINCE was born last night after Catherine Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William welcomed the arrival of a royal baby boy.
Catherine gave birth to a healthy son at 8.01pm Tasmanian time at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington.
The new prince weighed 3.8kg with Prince William present for the birth.
The name of the new royal is yet to be revealed but will likely have a deeply traditional name with strong links to the royal family going back generations.
BRITAIN has welcomed a new royal baby after Prince William’s wife Catherine gave birth to their third child.
The royal family announced last night the birth of a healthy 3.8kg baby boy, a brother to the couple’s first two children, Prince George, 4, and Princess Charlotte, 2.
Prince William, 35, was by the Duchess of Cambridge’s side in the delivery room at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington when the baby was born last night.
“Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 1101hrs,” Kensington Palace announced via Twitter.
“The baby weighs 8lbs 7oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.”
According to the Palace, the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families were delighted with the news.
The Duchess of Cambridge, had arrived at St Mary’s Hos- pital in Paddington yesterday morning.
She was in the private Lindo Wing, where she gave birth to the couple’s first two children, Prince George, now 4, and Princess Charlotte, almost 3.
The Metropolitan Police set up barricades outside the hospital as the press and hundreds of dedicated fans rushed to stake out positions in the hope of seeing Catherine and the baby.
The 36-year-old Duchess continued working until March 22 then went on maternity leave, although she was seen attending a church service with the Queen and other royal family members at Easter.
The baby boy is fifth in line to the throne, behind grandfather Prince Charles, father Prince William, and siblings George and Charlotte. Prince Harry, William’s brother, falls back to sixth in the line of succession and all other royal members shuffle down a further step.
Kensington Palace announced the pregnancy in early September after Catherine became ill with hyperemesis gravidarum, or extreme morning sickness.
