Biker, 20, dies from head injuries

A MOTORBIKE rider has died just days after suffering significan­t head injuries in a two-vehicle crash at Glenorchy.

The man, who was riding a black Yamaha motorcycle, was taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital by ambulance after the crash about 6.15pm on Sunday.

Police yesterday man had died.

“Sadly, police can confirm the 20-year-old male motorbike rider injured in a crash on Tolosa St, Glenorchy, on Sunday has died as a result of his injuries,” Senior Constable Kelly Cordwell said.

Police said the motorcycle and a sedan travelling in the said the opposite direction had collided. The rider was taken to hospital in a critical condition. The woman driving the car received minor injuries and was treated at the scene by Ambulance Tasmania staff.

The man’s death takes the state’s road toll for the year to 13, compared to five for the same period last year.
