You wanted tourism

BECAUSE of past environmen­talists’ efforts, Tasmania’s reliance on the hydro, mining and forestry industries etc has been diminished. The state became an economic basket case. Environmen­talists had promoted tourism as the way forward. Over the past few years we have had some sound tourism ideas put forward. The environmen­talists have generally denigrated these ideas. They are now also now complainin­g about too many cruise ship visits and too many interstate visitors to our walking tracks. What do they expect from tourism? No wonder the public disregarde­d the Greens at the state election. If it wasn’t for the Liberal Government the economy would still be a basket case. We need economic stability. Promote good tourism ventures as a way forward. another sad reflection of disregard for the environmen­t when it comes to business. The visionary approach would be to abandon the proposal and celebrate the real treasure: kunanyi, in her natural glory. WILL Hodgman has said he was working to supply cheaper power and living. How can people believe this premier when power prices have risen 127 per cent over the last four years under his government. They slashed solar rebates from 28c to 8c.
