Magpies seek weekend of double delight

-

THE Tasmanian Magpies will be heading into Round 2 of the Australian Netball League looking for two wins against the South Australian-based Southern Force.

The Magpies lost their first match of the season by two points against reigning premier Western Sting in Perth last Saturday but bounced back for an impressive 18-goal win on the Sunday and now sit in fourth position.

The Force lost both games against the Canberra Giants by nine last weekend so will be working hard to get their first win on the board for the year.

Assistant coach Claire Dennis said she was really looking forward to the games and seeing the team build on last weekend’s matches.

“We’ll be looking to continue our performance from Sunday and build the team balance and consistency that we put into Sunday’s game and make sure we’re improving on that and continuing where we left off,” Dennis said. “We’re hoping to get the two wins, which always helps improve the confidence of the girls.”

Both matches will be played at the State Netball and Hockey Centre in Melbourne on Saturday at 5pm and Sunday at 11am.

Tasmanian Magpies squad:

Kelsie Rainbow (Tas), Maddie Carter (Tas), Zanna Jodlowska (Tas), Shelby Miller (Tas), Cody Lange, Mary Livesy, Sharni Lambden, Vanessa Augistini, Meliss Bragg, Jane Cook, Gabbi Sinclair.
