Fair future

A FUTURE Hobart with denser inner-city living, more students, older residents and tourists should also be attractive, healthy and fair. As well as varied housing options, the city will need excellent active and passive open spaces, affordable housing and public transport, including well-designed transport interchanges in places like Macquarie Point.

Walker woes

A SPATE of hit and runs across the country brings a warning to drivers from police to be more conscious of pedestrians. Looking around Hobart, it only takes seconds to note Russian roulette is an art form for our pedestrians.

Swap for a Kiwi

FOR some silly reason Kiwi PM Jacinda Ardern seems to think “if we’re not here for kids and the future of the country they live in, then why are we here? And if our budget isn’t about people then what is it for? And on both counts, this government is happy to be judged”. Perhaps we could do a two-for-one deal swap — Malcolm and Bill for Jacinda.

More bovver

LIBERAL preselection battles are not about gender but factional positioning to ensure Abbott/Abetz conservative candidates dominate the federal parliamentary party to block Julie Bishop, the obvious next moderate leader in the event of an election loss. Expect more Colbeck-like demotions across the country as Abetz bovver boy Stansfield returns to the national stage to play his organisational games.
