Play up North

- Brendon Oliver Lindisfarne Mick Leppard Invermay

Bus congestion

I AM a big fan of public transport: better for the environment, and good for congestion in our CBD. However, before we look at adding bus lanes through the city, perhaps the Government should look at improving current services. I catch the bus just about every morning from Lindisfarne, and have become accustomed to buses being up to 15 minutes late each day, or just not coming. And as I am 6 foot 2, sitting in the seats is a pretty uncomfortable experience on some of the older buses with my legs wedged against the steel seats. Expand the congestion plans to incorporate buses by all means, but until you can prove that you can get the current program humming, it’s a recipe for disaster and will only exacerbate current issues.

We need information

COMMUNITIES in the Huon Valley are very much in the dark over details for the proposed Neville Smith Products woodchip facility at Dover. The actual location of the 800,000 tonne per annum plantation timber reserves within the stated IF a very poor crowd of 7194 at an AFL game at Bellerive Oval wasn’t so pathetic it would be a joke, and the joke would be on the AFL for allowing North Melbourne to play in the South of the state in the first place. How much is it costing everyone involved? All AFL games, including a Tassie team if we ever get one, should be played at York Park in Launceston, because it’s obvious it’s the only venue in the state that attracts a reasonable crowd.

Think outside the box

CAN someone explain the difference between Dark Mofo’s finest art and stupidity. Most 70-year-olds are trying to keep away from being put into a box and being put into a deep dark hole. I must have missed the point. I just hope he takes his water wings in case of another deluge or has a good escape plan. I would also like to know who is paying for this fiasco. Someone has got more money than sense.
