APRIL 22: The Anglican Church reveals it will sell off 120 properties, including churches halls, houses and vacant blocks to raise $8 million to fund redress for survivors of child sexual abuse.

MAY 7: The church releases a provisiona­l list of 108 properties, including 76 churches, being considered for sale. The sale is expected to raise about $20 million, with 25 per cent to be put aside to fund payments to victims of sexual abuse. The list will be finalised in December.

MAY 8: While most of the 76 churches on the list are closed, some, such as St Mary’s at Kempton and St Martin’s in Queenstown, are still used for services, baptisms, weddings and funerals. These parishes request the churches are taken off the sale list.

MAY 11: The former St Luke’s Church at Judbury sold at auction for $107,000.

MAY 22: The Hobart City Council votes to seek discussion­s with the Parish of All Saints about keeping St Raphael’s Church at Fern Tree in public ownership.

MAY 30: St Peter’s Church and Rectory at Fingal, St George’s Church at Mathinna and St Michael’s and All Angels Church at Pyengana are revealed as being on the provisiona­l list.

MAY 30: Leading architect James Jones confirms he has written to the Anglican Church asking it to sell its St David’s Cathedral carpark in Murray St, rather than historic churches.

MAY 31: An interstate benefactor comes forward and shows interest in buying all the 76 churches and gifting them to the community, keeping them as places of worship.
