House project with real heart

- JARRAD BEVAN

THE sale of a new threebedroom home on Hobart’s Eastern Shore will contribute hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Give Me 5 For Kids fundraising campaign.

GM5FK ambassador and local radio host Dave Noonan said the house sale was their single biggest fundraising activity, which enables the charity to fulfil the Royal Hobart Hospital Children’s Ward’s wish list of items and equipment that fall outside their budget.

He said having first-rate equipment in Hobart made a world of difference to families with ill children.

“It can enable kids to stay in Hobart for treatment instead of having to fly interstate,” he said.

The House With Heart was built by Lyden Builders and is located in a new homes area at 90 Goodwins Rd in Rokeby.

Mr Noonan said the project would not happen without the generosity of Lyden Builders, Clennett’s Mitre 10 and an unbelievable array of people who volunteered their time.

Lyden Builders senior site supervisor Graham Johnstone said the company was dedicated to helping the community through this type of project.

“Owner Andrew Lyden is a giving person, he simply loves helping people,” he said.

The house is available to buy now, but if it is not sold will go to auction on June 30. It will be open for inspection on Saturday, 11am-1pm.
