Where Eagles dare

-

ONE of Australia’s best alt-country rock bands, Melbourne four-piece Raised By Eagles, will fly into Tasmania for the very first time this weekend.

Raised By Eagles — Luke Sinclair (vocals, guitar), Nick O’Mara (vocals, guitar), Johnny Gibson (drums) and Luke Richardson (bass) — play evocative, authentic and sincere old-soul Americana music.

The band exploded on to Melbourne’s musical landscape in mid-2013, with their self-titled debut release nominated for Best Country Album at the Age Music Victoria Awards.

They released their acclaimed follow-up album Diamonds In the Bloodstream in 2015, winning the group Best Country Album and Best Emerging Artist at the Age Music Victoria Awards, and landing them an invitation to perform at the prestigious Americana Music Festival in Nashville.

A big year on the Australian festival circuit followed — including appearances at the Port Fairy Folk Festival, BIGSOUND, the Bello Winter Music Festival and other events — before Raised By Eagles wrote and recorded their third album, I Must Be Somewhere, which was released in May last year.

Propelled by the lead single Shape & Line, I Must Be Somewhere scored a four-star review from Rolling Stone Australia, and went on to be named Best Country Album at last year’s Age Music Victoria Awards.

Raised By Eagles are now back on the road, playing shows in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania to promote Nightwheels, the third single taken from I Must Be Somewhere.

They play at Launceston’s Greenwood Bar tomorrow night, at Mountain Mumma at Sheffield on Saturday night, and at the Republic Bar in North Hobart from 9pm on Sunday. Entry is free.
