US fighter warns Horn he has all the answers

- VINCE RUGARI

TERENCE Crawford’s camp has warned Jeff Horn that the pound-for-pound sensation has an answer for any question the Australian boxing champion might pose.

Crawford’s trainer Brian “BoMac” McIntyre finally broke the ice with the Australian media yesterday outside the Top Rank gym in Las Vegas, where the travelling contingent had been waiting for the American to complete his session.

McIntyre had previously threatened a media ban on Australian outlets because they would “twist our words”.

When he eventually emerged about 9pm, McIntyre brought his own cameraman to film what was a highly humorous, sometimes surreal doorstop interview. After staring the media pack down for several seconds, he told one reporter he owed him money, informed another he had “beady eyes” and dismissed questions from some reporters while demanding them from others.

Then his assistant trainer Jacque “Red” Spikes stepped in and cracked jokes about drinking Foster’s beer.

But their core message was deadly serious — Horn is just another hurdle Crawford will clear easily on his way to dominating a third weight division.

“You know what he’s going to do. He’s going to whoop Jeff Horn’s ass,” McIntyre said.

“He’s gonna clean up the division and then ride off into the sunset.”

Asked how Crawford was looking, McIntyre said: “You already know he’s good to go — next question.”

Asked if he was worried about Horn, he said: “Not really. His boxing skills are kind of not up to par ... he’s a determined fighter, he comes to get the job done and, when you get fighters like that, it brings out the best of the other fighter.”

McIntyre also confirmed Crawford would wear the controversial Everlast MX gloves made of horse hair, saying he had worn them for all of his previous 32 fights without a problem.

“I don’t know what they have in them — I hope they’ve got rocks in them,” he said.

He also took another swipe at Horn’s trainer Glenn Rushton, continuing their battle.

“He’s going to throw shots at me — I didn’t throw no shots at him, so right now, I’m like, f... him,” McIntyre said.

Spikes said Rushton’s “mental stuff” would not work on Crawford.

“We’ve got an answer for everything,” he said.
