Tiger pair lose locks for a mate

- KYLE WISNIEWSKI

TWO Tigers are prepared to lop their locks for a cause close to their hearts.

Tigers’ players Will Campbell and Sam Duigan are shaving their heads tonight to raise money for the Alex Gadomski Fellowship.

The fellowship was started by Alex’s family, which joined forces with Maddie Riewoldt’s Vision to raise money for bone marrow failure research. Aged 21, Alex lost his fiveyear battle with aplastic anaemia, followed by myelodysplasia (MDS), both of which were the result of bone marrow failure.

“For me, it’s pretty close to my heart,” Duigan said. “Alex was a close friend and I wanted to help in any way that I could and, by helping with the cause, I’m honouring him in some way.”

“This is close to Paul [Alex’s father] and Lachy’s [Alex’s brother] heart, who are both at the footy club, which means this is close to mine too,” Campbell said. “Our target is $5000 and we are around $3000 at the moment.”

Lachlan Gadomski said it meant a lot to him that his teammates were helping raise funds for his brother’s fellowship.

“We do need funds, so little things like this help and it raises muchneeded awareness,” Gadomski said.

Midfielder Campbell admits it will feel strange living without his red locks and small forward Duigan said the same about his dark blond mane.

“It’s probably been two years since I have had a decent haircut, so I’m well overdue,” Campbell said.

“I think my mum will be happy, she is sick of finding loose hairs and hair ties around the house,” Duigan said. Donate to the shave for the Alex Gadomski Fellowship at www.gofundme .com/sam-duigan-and-will-campbell
