haze could not be clouded over by the deep issues with the flora and fauna that were highly acclaimed by Attenborough. The images beamed around the world will be diminished, degraded or destroyed if the Tasmanian government does not open its eyes and ears and act.

Easy flooding fix

FLOODING of Sandy Bay Rd in the area bounded by Waimea Ave and Derwentwater Ave is a fairly regular experience, particularly in autumn when leaves block the stormwater drains. In the recent floods this area was closed to traffic for a considerable time. A simple and cheap fix would be to create an overflow outlet by lowering the height of the footpath on the river side opposite Waimea to, or slightly below, road level for about 10m, creating a similar effect to that of the overflow spouts common on house roof-gutters.

Religious housing stance

OFFICIALS and supporters of the TSL continually ignore distance in discussions on the TSL. No amount of money will make it go away. The players and supporters do not like or support the travel element. The only sensible solution is northern and southern conferences with mid-season intrastate matches and state finals. And please, why are young men under 18 allowed to play? They are neither physically nor emotionally ready. It is the reason you cannot play in the AFL if you are under 18. Do not trot out that garbage about pathways to the AFL. Baldock, Hart, Stewart (three Brownlows), Richardson, Hudson and many others did not need a state league to make the grade
