Great day promises more home glory

- — PETER STAPLES

SPREYTON trainer Adam Trinder signalled a warning that he could be a force to be reckoned with when racing takes on a permanent role for five weeks on his home track in August.

Trinder snared a double in Devonport on Sunday to take training honours on the seven-race card and in one of the events he provided the quinella.

His first starter Harriman delivered a bold display of frontrunning with stable apprentice Chris Graham aboard to take out the opening event, a 2YO and upwards maiden over 1150m. Harriman was one of the best-bred horses at the meeting, being by Written Tycoon from the Danehill mare Love to Boogie.

The three-year-old gelding is owned by one of Trinder’s main owners, Wayne Roser, who purchased him at the SA Magic Millions Yearling sale for $26,000.

Later on in the program Ariconte ($11) delivered his best effort this time in to run down stablemate Kyogle Son ($5.50), who tried valiantly to lead throughout in a class four handicap in which the John Blacker-trained Silzoar was an easing favourite ($2.70).

“All up it was a decent day at the office and I was particularly impressed with Harriman, who did a good job to lead throughout,” Trinder said.

He also had minor placegetters with Gasnier and One Way Ticket, who both ran third in their benchmark 64 handicap races.

“I have a reasonably strong team heading into the next few months as a few of the better performed horses have either embarked or are about to embark on wellearned spells.”
