Upfront, or backtracking

- Ian Beadle Montrose COSTLY: Rumble over Glenorchy City rate rise.

HOW amazingly lucky we are to have a couple of politicians in this state who actually aren’t afraid to be upfront and honest, even when delivering bad news. Top of the class has to be Kristie Johnston, Mayor of Glenorchy, who has always appeared forthright and respectful in her position and interactions with her electorate and the broader community. And the flip side of the coin, Will Hodgman, who has the audacity to attack Rebecca White and Cassy O’Connor for questioning his lack of support for the ABC, Mr Hodgman claiming he wasn’t in the room when the vote was taken (to privatise the ABC) and clumsily backtracking when it became clear he had misled the public. Appalling. as for tracking their descendants, that is nonsense. The names of Aborigines who killed European settlers would also have to be included. Why insist on recalling the past? It is done and continuing diatribe will not change that. Reconciliation will never be fully achieved while there are activists denouncing the arrival of Europeans in Australia and how that affected the indigenous population. It is history, never forget it, but don’t keep throwing it up in an antagonistic manner. removed 60 positions from the conservation division. Australian Government invests only $5000 annually in more than 600 species of Tasmania’s spectacular flora and fauna, while trying to sell their homes for profit. This means there is roughly $7.14 per species to spend and save these precious wildlife. Atrocious. Wake up now to value the evolutionary treasures that cannot be replace once they are gone.
