Glue helps keep social fabric in right place

-

SUFFERING through a social slump? Then let Brisbane noise-pop trio BUGS get under your skin when they launch their new EP in Tasmania this weekend.

Singer-songwriter Connor Brooker first started BUGS in 2014 as a bedroom recording project, writing rambunctious and relatable tunes that you can sing along to, but have a depth below the surface.

Brooker’s fan base grew quickly when he started performing small local shows, and he recruited Brock Weston (drums) and Jordan Brunoli (bass) when offers to support the likes of PUP, Modern Baseball Spiderbait, Hockey Dad and Bleeding Knees Club started rolling in.

After landing a spot at the Falls Festival in Bryon Bay over the summer, then touring the country to promote their single Neighbourhood, BUGS released their new EP, Social Slump, in April.

Social Slump features five tracks, including Neighbourhood and the band’s new single, Glue, which “explores the fearful feeling that everything around you is constantly moving forward and changing while you are stuck in the same place, headspace or behaviours”.

BUGS are touring the country this month to launch Social Slump, and come to Tasmania for two shows this weekend: at the Saloon Bar in Launceston tomorrow night; and at the Republic Bar in North Hobart from 10pm on Saturday. Tickets to the Hobart show are $13, go to www.moshtix.com.au for bookings.
