Stars forge a musical bond
AUSTRALIAN pop legend Kate Ceberano will team up with musical theatre star Michael Falzon and the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra to bring the shaken-not-stirred style, sophistication and sounds of James Bond to Hobart this October.
Ceberano — who has three ARIA Awards, a Logie and two People’s Choice Awards to her name — barely needs an introduction, having established herself as one of Australia’s bestloved female singers over the past 30-odd years thanks to hits such as Bedroom Eyes and Pash, and roles in the stage productions of Jesus Christ
Superstar and South Pacific. Currently appearing as Magaldi in Opera Australia’s production of Evita, Michael Falzon has a long list of Australian and international cabaret, theatre, concert and television credits to his name.
Falzon started his career performing in Gilbert & Sullivan and Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals across Australia and Asia, before getting his big break in 2003 when he was handpicked by Ben Elton, Brian May and Roger Taylor to play Galileo in the first international production of We Will Rock You.
Roles in shows such as Jesus Christ Superstar, Rock of Ages and Hedwig and the Angry Inch followed.
A founding member of popular vocal quartet Swing on This, Falzon has performed as a soloist in concert halls across the country, including with the TSO. He has also been seen on Blue
Heelers and the Aussie feature film Ned, in Jeff Wayne’s live musical version of The War of the
Worlds, and as Kyle in the Ben Elton BBC sitcom The Wright Way.
Kate Ceberano, Michael Falzon and the TSO play The
Music of James Bond at Wrest Point from 7.30pm on October 30. Tickets are $35-$90, go to www.tso.com.au or phone 1900 001 190 for bookings.
