Sharks circle Cygnet as they hunt semi-final berth

- JAMES BRESNEHAN

DODGES Ferry utility Jordan Dunn says the Sharks are keen to turn the tables on Cygnet in their SFL clash at Shark Park today after losing to The Port last time they met.

Dodges is seventh on the ladder but only one game out of the top five, making a win over fourth-placed Cygnet critical to the Sharks’ season.

“It’s a massive game,” Dunn said. “We definitely need the win. It means a possible semi-final for us.

“We’ve had a good week on the track and we are pretty confident we can get the win.”

Despite their position on the ladder, the Sharks are dangerous, as Huonville discovered in Round 9 when they lost to Dodges at Huonville.

“It was a big confidence booster for us,” Dunn said.

“We’ve definitely shown glimpses of what we can do, unfortunately we just haven’t put four quarters together, which is frustrating.

“Huonville was as close as we’ve come to doing that so it was a huge step forward for us to know we can play some good footy and beat some top sides. We’ve got to continue to look for that fourquarter effort.”

Dunn switched from Richmond in the Old Scholars this season.

“I know a few of the Dodges boys from under-age and they’ve welcomed me into the club,” he said. “I’ve had more of a leadership role this year, which I have embraced and has been a challenge.”

Hobart plays sixth-placed New Norfolk at the TCA Ground where the winner will be in the top five tonight.

Ladder-leader Lindisfarne takes on Sorell at Pembroke Park, and third-placed Huonville has a blockbuster date with second-placed Claremont at Huonville.
