Demons the nursery for Tassie talent

- BRETT STUBBS

NORTH Hobart’s investment in youth is paying dividends with the Demons having seven players named in the 25-strong Tasmanian under-16s team.

It is the most of any club and comes after nine North Hobart players represented Tasmania in the under-17s’ win over Queensland last month.

Of the seven Demons – Angus Norton, Jacques Barwick, Sam Collins, Patrick Walker, Axel Moore, Jye Menzie and Jake Steele – in the under-16s, only Menzie is yet to play senior TSL football this season.

It demonstrates while it has been a tough year for North Hobart this season, with just one win and sitting on the bottom of the state league ladder, foundations are in place for the future.

The under-16s, coming off a 22point win over Queensland last month, will play the NT on the Gold Coast on Tuesday and the NSW-ACT at Yeronga next Saturday.
