- RENEE GODFREY

ASHLEIGH Probert-Hill is taking her netball opportunities with open arms as she heads off to the Netball Centre of Excellence in Canberra today to participate in the Under-19 National Squad Camp.

The camp runs from today until Thursday and Probert-Hill is one of 26 athletes from around Australia who were selected based on their potential and performance at the conclusion of the National Netball Championships earlier in the year.

Probert-Hill has featured in Tasmanian teams since she was in under 15s and is currently playing Opens State League with Karana Flames and is looking forward to working with some of the best coaches in country. “It’s such an amazing opportunity,” Probert-Hill said.

The program, led by Netball Centre of Excellence head coach Michelle Wilkins, will also feature current Australian coach Lisa Alexander as well as an array of past Australian superstars.

The camp will also see the squad have match play and combined training sessions with England’s underage squad.

For Probert-Hill, this is the second time in as many years she has been chosen to attend, but the budding star was still surprised with her selection.

“I’m really excited to be going,” said ProbertHill, adding: “It came as a bit of a shock, but I’m going to grab the opportunity with both hands.”
