Two facing court over separate cases

A MAN has been charged with two counts of armed robbery and a second man has been charged with three counts of burglary in relation to a series of unrelated business raids in Southern Tasmania during the past week.

A Hobart man, 23, has been charged with two counts of armed robbery in relation to an alleged armed robbery at the Terry White Chemmart at Liverpool and Criterion streets in Hobart on Monday, and an alleged armed robbery at the Terry White Chemmart on Sandy Bay afternoon.

The man was expected to appear in the Hobart Magistrate­s Court last night.

A Bridgewate­r man, 33, faces multiple charges including three counts of burglary, three counts of stealing, three counts of motor vehicle stealing and one count of aggravated burglary in relation to a series of business burglaries across Southern Tasmania during the past week.

He is expected to front Hobart Magistrate­s Court today.

Tasmania Police Detective Rd on Sunday Inspector Craig Joel said detectives investigat­ing a burglary at Harvey Norman in Kingston early yesterday morning went to a Bridgewate­r house where they found the alleged suspect, a white Mercedes Benz allegedly stolen from Kingston and electrical goods allegedly stolen from the Harvey Norman store.

“As part of the ongoing police investigat­ion, the man is also being questioned in relation to burglaries at the IGA Supermarke­t and Coles Express Service Station in New Norfolk on July 5,” Insp Joel said.
