CLASSIC ELECTRO POP ACT

- PATRICK GEE

SOME of Australia’s best-known electronic pop music artists will get a classic twist in Hobart this year.

The artists will perform rearranged dancefloor classics on stage with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra in a concert on the Wrest Point Lawns in December as part of the Ministry of Sound’s annual orchestrated tour.

It is the first time Hobart has been included in the tour, which also features performances in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and on the Gold Coast.

THE Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra will be joined by some of Australia’s bestknown electronic pop music artists to perform rearranged dancefloor classics.

Electronic pop artist Sam Sparro is among the internationally acclaimed vocalists to take the mic alongside the TSO. The Strings of Life Tour concert on the Wrest Point Lawns on December 8 will celebrate dancefloor hits from the past 25 years and is part of the Ministry of Sound’s annual orchestrated tour.

Hobart has been added to the tour’s itinerary for the first time. Sparro said he was excited to finally play in Tasmania.

“I have heard that you guys march to the beat of a different drummer and I’ve heard that it’s beautiful,” he said.

Sparro, behind 2008 global hit Black and Gold, said he was excited to perform rearrangements of his own songs as well as dance classics with the TSO.

“It’s always amazing because you have the full force of all these live instruments behind you and you can feel the actual vibrations in the bass.”

Tickets go on sale at ticketmaster.com.au on Monday at 10am.
