THE BEST WAY TO GET YOU TO THE STADIUM

- JAMES BRESNEHAN

HERE’S a free kick for AFL fans heading to the North Melbourne-West Coast game at Blundstone Arena tomorrow.

Wrest Point has put on the Footy Ferry, and it’s free.

Wrest Point boss Dominic Baker said tickets were going like hotcakes.

“We’ve been running the free footy ferries for two seasons and they sell out pretty quickly, so regular fans know to book early,” he said.

The ferry riders don’t have to worry about traffic or parking, just a short walk from Bellerive to the game.

“Blundstone is just a stone’s throw away from our jetty with great access by water,” Baker said.

“We have plenty of parking here, so we saw the opportunity to reduce traffic congestion and add to the experience of a day out at the footy.”

The ferry takes 500 people each way, split over several crossings.

“There’s certainly a safety aspect too. People aren’t jumping straight into their cars after drinking at the footy, and they know they can get a taxi easily from here and leave the car behind,” Baker said.

“We run the ferries for free because it’s the right thing to do, but of course we do want people to drop in for a drink, a feed or some entertainment before or after the game.

“If things go as I’d like them to, the Kangaroos supporters come back happy.” Book a ferry ride at Wrest Point online.
