Mercury (Hobart)

This headline act is in good Nick

SELF-PROCLAIMED “comedian, actor and idiot”, Nick Cody has toured the world, starred on TV and film, and mixed it with the likes of Conan O’Brien, but he is yet to headline in Hobart.

That will change when he mounts the stage at Jokers Comedy Club on Wednesday as part of a national tour.

One of Australia’s top comedy talents, Cody has been selling out his stand-up shows around the globe with his easy-going style.

His shows are brimming with themes of alpha, Aussiebloke idiocy, excessive beer consumption and dark humour.

The Australian funnyman’s ever-growing fan base at home and abroad has ensured full houses at venues such as the Edinburgh Fringe, the Soho Theatre in London, the Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal, and the New York Comedy Festival.

Cody has appeared on US talk show Conan and on Australian TV comedy series including Just For Laughs Australia, Have You Been Paying Attention?, Talkin’ ’bout Your Generation and Hughesy, We Have a Problem.

At Jokers Comedy Club next week he will be joined by fellow comics Stewart Bell, Anna Kidd and MC Gavin Baskerville.

The show starts at 8pm on Wednesday.

Tickets are $23.30 pre-sale or $25 at the door (if not sold out), available from www.jokerscomedy.com.au or Centertainment.
