Sounds like a win for charity

-

LONG-TIME Melbourne rockers Dallas Frasca and Money for Rope will more than make up for the lack of sporting talent at this weekend’s Reclink Community Cup charity football fundraiser in Hobart.

Local media representatives — and a couple of politicians — will square off against Tasmanian musicians in a below-average yet very amusing match-up when the annual charity clash returns to Sandy Bay.

Providing the soundtrack to the evening will be Melbourne-based trio Dallas Frasca — named after the lead singer — with their beefy blues riffs, full-throated vocals and a massive drum sound.

Melbourne pop/rock six-piece Money For Rope will also help to pump up the players and get the crowd moving with the energy produced by their two drum kits, two guitars, four voices, bass and keyboards.

The event raises money for Reclink Australia, which provides social opportunities for people facing economic hardship, at-risk youth, people with a disability or experiencing mental illness, the homeless, and those tackling alcohol and other drug issues.

The Community Cup started in 1993 in Melbourne and expanded to Sydney in 2012, Adelaide and Perth in 2015, and Hobart in 2016.

The Ramonas media team has won the first two Hobart games against and is hoping to make it a “three-peat” on Sunday.

The 2018 Hobart Reclink Community Cup clash will be held at Queenborough Oval at Sandy Bay on Sunday. Gates open at 12.30pm, with the first bounce at 1.45pm.

All money raised goes to Reclink’s Tasmanian programs. Tickets are available from www.oztix.com.au
