Roos lose Ling to broken arm

- ADAM SMITH

UNHERALDED Clarence midfielder Matthew Ling will miss the remainder of the TSL home-and-away season in what coach Jeromey Webberley has described as a big blow.

Ling, who often flies under the radar but has proven a quality run-with player in recent seasons, broke his arm against North Launceston last week.

With finals only a month away he will now be racing the clock to return for the qualifying final.

“He has been a real soldier for us this year, he is one of those guys who no one really notices but he just gets the job done each week,” Webberley said.

“He is a bit of an out for us to tell you the honest truth.

“Really disappointed for Matt, hopefully it heals really well and we can get him back for the first final.”

Harry Richmond also makes way for the Roos clash with Launceston, with Tom Birchall and Oscar Paprotny coming in.

The Blues have made one change, with Miller Hodge included at the expense of Jack Donnellan.

North Hobart has injected some experience after last week’s thumping from Glenorchy, with Ollie Di Venuto one of four inclusions for the home match against North Launceston.

Di Venuto has been named alongside Michael Woods and Trent Millhouse, while teenage ruckman Hamish Allan will make his senior debut against the reigning premiers.

The Bombers only made the one change, with Michael Tang making way for Karlton Wadley.

Both the Tigers and Glenorchy made a single change for their meeting at the Twin Ovals, with the hosts recalling Lochie Griggs for Matt Coad, while the Pies included son of a gun Will Atkin — son of club legend Ben — for Connor Salter.
