Just the Tonic for healthy life

-

choral group for those who work in the health and wellbeing sector, their families and friends will begin in Hobart next week, and interested people are invited to join them.

The Tonic Singing Experience has been established by voice teacher and vocal instructor Helen Todd, who has founded and led a number of choral ventures, including Hobart’s Choir of High Hopes and Mirage. Todd also runs workshops in vocal production and breathing in Tasmania and interstate.

She said she was prompted to start the group after being approached by a GP who was passionate about singing and its beneficial effects.

“The health sector is a very stressful area and the GP wanted to encourage colleagues to find a way to release that stress, build skills, but most of all spend time with like-minded people but not ‘talk shop’,” Todd said.

“It will be an opportunity to sing with like-minded people, to improve vocal techniques, and most of all a chance for them to enjoy themselves.

“No musical experience is necessary, and all levels will be catered for.”

Todd has brought on board Andrew Morrisby and Tom Misson as accompanists, and said their wealth of skills would add to the experience.

The first Tonic Singing Experience will be held at the Scots Memorial Uniting Church in Bathurst St, Hobart, from 7-8.30pm next Thursday (August 16). The cost is $12, payable at the door.
