Say hello to our (weird) friend Fricker

-

SARDONIC,unique, and downright weird — that’s comedian and Triple J host Gen Fricker, who is set to headline Hobart comedy room The Clubhouse this weekend.

On stage, Fricker presents a blend of sassy stand-up and dark musical experimentation, all delivered with a butter-wouldn’t-melt-in-her-mouth smile.

Fricker made her stand-up comedy debut in 2011, when she represented New South Wales in the Raw Comedy national final.

She has gone on to sell out seasons of her solo shows at the Melbourne, Perth and Sydney comedy festivals; perform at events such as the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival, the Fall Festival and Splendour in The Grass; and support US comic Reggie Watts on his 2014 Australian tour.

In addition to her stand-up work, Fricker is a regular voice on Triple J radio, where she now presents the station’s weekday Lunch program after a stint co-hosting the afternoon Drive show with Lewis Hobba.

She has also appeared on TV shows including CRAM (Channel 10), Dirty Laundry Live (ABC) and Legally Brown (SBS), and written a column for the Sydney Morning Herald.

Hailed as “hilariously, unapologetically weird” ( Herald Sun), “unmissable” ( Daily Telegraph) and “hilariously dark” ( The Age), Gen Fricker headlines The Clubhouse at the Hobart Brewing Company (Macquarie Point) from 8pm on Saturday. She will be joined by local support Tracey Cosgrove and host Tim Logan.

Tickets are $25 pre-sale from www.clubhousecomedy.com.au, or $30 at the door.
