Don’t gloss over this Matt finish

-

JOKERSComedy Club is laying out the welcome Matt next week, when an award-winning Melbourne comedian returns to Hobart.

Acclaimed for his dry, deadpan style and off-kilter thinking, Matt Stewart offers a surreal and intriguing take on the world.

Stewart started his career as a community TV and radio presenter back in 2009, and went on to start the Stupid Old Man sketch group and comedy production house Stupid Old Studios.

He started performing stand-up in 2013 and enjoyed almost immediate success, winning the Raw Comedy national final the following year.

Stewart went on to complete sold-out seasons of his debut solo show Pretty Dry at the Melbourne Fringe, Perth Fringe World and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

He has recently been seen on TV programs such as Ronny Chieng: International Student, Get Krack!n and Sammy J’s Democratic Party. He is also co-host of one of Australia’s most popular comedy podcasts, Do Go On.

Stewart first visited Jokers Comedy Club in 2016 and has become a semi-regular visitor to Hobart in recent years, but will headline Jokers for the first time at The Polish Corner in New Town from 8pm on Wednesday.

He will be joined by Devonport’s Ned Townsend and local support Alex Johnston, plus guest host Tracey Cosgrove. Tickets are $23.30 pre-sale available from www.jokerscomedy.com.au and Centertainment (phone 6234 5998), or $25 at the door (if not already sold out).
