TICKETS were snapped up for a night of hilarity soon after the announcement of Triple J’s One Night Stand-up at St Helens. The event is a side-splitting comedy extension of Triple J’s music event One Night Stand. Hosted by Veronica Milson and Lewis Hobba from Triple J’s

Drive program, One Night Stand-up will see some of Australia’s cleverest comedians join the party on Tasmania’s East Coast.

Comedians set to converge on Tasmania include Becky Lucas, Michael Hing, Gen Fricker and Craig Quartermaine.

Lucas has spent years writing and performing critically acclaimed live stand-up comedy. In 2015 she sold out venues around the country with her debut solo show High

Tide, and since then she has gone from strength to strength. Lucas has appeared in hit TV shows

Comedy Up Late and Please Like Me. She also co-wrote the comedy series The Other Guy with comedian and former Triple J host Matt Okine. From SBS Viceland’s The Feed and Free to a

Good Home podcast, Michael Hing is a writer, a TV and radio host, as well as being a regular on the national stand-up circuit.

Journalist, comedian and TV writer Craig Quartermaine stormed the Edinburgh Fringe Festival early in his career and has gone on to perform stand-up on stages around the world.

One Night Stand-up starts at the Portland Memorial Hall in St Helens at 6.30pm on August 31. Tickets have sold out.

The event will be broadcast on ABC Comedy and ABC iview at 8.45pm on September 2.

All proceeds from ticket sales will go to Whitelion St Helens, which provides mentoring for young people.
