White excited to Relive the Rivalry again

- RYAN ROSENDALE

THE Relive the Rivalry charity match continues to build an impressive line-up of former AFL stars and local talent ahead of the annual game next Friday.

Former three-time Brisbane premiership player Darryl White will return to the Victorian/All Stars lineup while recently delisted Essendon forward Josh Green and Clarence retiree Trent Standen will pull on the map in a bid to raise funds for Muscular Dystrophy Tasmania.

White visited the state this week and says it’s something he looks forward to every year.

“I’ve been a part of four now and each one has been fantastic so hopefully we can get a great crowd in to watch the boys from the big time and the local talent also,” White said.

The rivalry match will also see TSLW leading goalkicker Neitta Lynch and AFLW player Phoebe McWilliams line up on opposing sides, while the curtain-raiser will feature the top talent of the northern suburbs coming together to face TSLW Premiers Glenorchy. “It just brings a different crowd to the football and I think women’s football is just going from strength to strength and it’s not going to go away,” coordinator Jaimes Wiggins said.

A few familiar TSL names will also take part in the match with Glenorchy coach Paul Kennedy and Lauderdale assistant Clinton Brown lining up for the Victorian/All Stars with both originally from interstate.

The night kicks off at 5.45pm with the women’s game. The rivalry match starts at 7.15pm at North Hobart Oval.
