Something’s fishy this weekend

-

DRAG out the rods, fill the bait box and get ready to hit up some of the state’s best fishing spots this weekend.

Sunday has been designated national Gone Fishing Day and the weather looks likely to oblige with forecasts of a bright, sunny day and a top of 23C.

Fisheries Tasmania has events planned across the state, from McGees Bridge at Midway Point to the Port Sorell Wharf.

Clinics have been planned at six locations around Tasmania with rods available for use during the events.

And not to be outdone, the Inland Fisheries Service is also holding a licence free day on Sunday (all other regulations apply).

The Anglers Alliance Tasmania will host five junior angling events at locations including Frombergs Dam at Ulverstone to Miena Lodge Dam.

Southern Tasmanians will be able to get in plenty of practise before the big day with a forecast maximum of 15 today, a top of 18 tomorrow, after a shower or two early, and 21 on Saturday.
