Tassie acts are live and kicking
LUCA Brasi, A. Swayze & the Ghosts and three of the state’s thriving festivals are all in the running for major gongs at the third annual National Live Music Awards.
Melbourne indie-rock trio Camp Cope lead this year’s nominations with six, after winning three awards last year. Baker Boy, Cable Ties and Stella Donnelly are each nominated in five categories.
Hobart-based melodic punk band Luca Brasi is up for three awards, including the national Live Hard Rock Artist of the Year award — along with Cable Ties, Amyl & The Sniffers, High Tension and Tropical F--k Storm.
Fellow Hobart group A. Swayze & the Ghosts is up against Alex The Astronaut, Baker Boy, Tropical F--k Storm and WAAX to be named Best New Act of the Year, while the Falls Festival, a festival called PANAMA and Dark Mofo are all in the running for national Festival of the Year.
The National Live Music Awards will be presented at a gala ceremony in Brisbane on December 6, with state awards handed out at simultaneous satellite events acrossss the country.
The Hobart event will be held at the Hobart Brewing Company and feature live performances, DJ sets and more.
