dirt roads lead to Kempton this weekend, when New South Wales bands Simply Bushed and Whiskey Business headline the Southern Midlands town’s annual Country Music Muster.

Putting a new spin on traditional bush band music, Simply Bushed — Paul Grierson (guitar, vocals), Chris Rieger (guitar, vocals), John Healey (bass), Dave Roberts (drums) and Hugh Curtis (fiddle) — are coming to Tasmania for the first time, armed with their new single Wave Your Finger.

Wave Your Finger and fan favourites Raise Your Glass and No More Holdens are all taken from Simply Bushed’s album Here and Now, which they launched at this year’s Tamworth Country Music Festival.

“I have spoken to others who have played the Kempton Country Music Muster and they have loved it, so we are looking forward to getting down there and playing for everyone,” Grierson says.

Simply Bushed will be joined in Kempton by New South Wales Central Coast country rock band Whiskey Business, who have made a name for themselves at the Tamworth festival over the past three years.

Also featuring local artists and an open mic comp, the Kempton Country Music Muster will be held at the Huntington Tavern from 2pm on Saturday. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for children (plus booking fee) pre-sale from www.the huntingtonkempton.com.au, or $30/$15 at the door.
