Mercury (Hobart)

Compelling body of evidence

HAVE an Out Of Body experience next week when Melbourne act Coda Chroma create hypnotic, cinematic soundscapes across Tasmania.

Coda Chroma is the indie-folk/pop project of singer and songwriter Kate Luca, working with New Zealandborn producer Damien Charles (The Red Eyes).

The duo dropped the self-titled debut Coda Chroma album in April last year, with tracks from the album placed on high rotation on Double J.

Live shows with the likes of Husky, Ainslie Wills, William Crighton and Ali Barter led to a nomination at The Age Music Victoria Awards.

After starting 2018 by touring the UK and Europe, Coda Chroma returned to Melbourne and released Circles, the haunting first single from their upcoming second album.

Tomorrow marks the release of the second single, the cinematic indie-folk track Out Of Body — an emotive piece with diverse influences, from Sebadoh to Crosby, Stills Nash and Young.

Touring to launch Out Of Body, Coda Chroma play at St John Craft Beer in Launceston next Thursday (October 25) with Runaway Belles and Yyan & Emily; at The Chapel in Burnie next Friday (October 26); at the Homestead in North Hobart next Saturday (October 27), with EWAH and Runaway Belles, free entry; and at the Seafarers Festival on the Bellerive Boardwalk next Sunday (October 28).
