STARS FOR OUR STAGE

-

WEST Australian artrockers Methyl Ethel, rising star Baker Boy, and a host of international heavyweights will headline next year’s A Festival Called PANAMA in Tasmania.

Methyl Ethel and Baker Boy will be joined by the likes of Texan psychedelic trio Khruangbin, 19-yearold US indie star Snail Mail, and Californian garage-surf outfit Shannon & The Clams.

Just 1500 tickets will go on sale for the sixth incarnation of the boutique festival, which will be held in the Lone Star Valley, 50km north-east of Launceston, from March 8-10. Methyl Ethel was slated to play at PANAMA in 2016 on the back of its acclaimed debut album, but instead was recruited to the huge SXSW festival in the US.

The band will finally appear at PANAMA next year, just after their third album is due to drop.

Baker Boy is a relative newcomer to the music scene, having only started rapping about two years ago in Yolngu Matha language, but every song he has released has been a hit.

Other Australian acts on the bill include Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, Mojo Juju, Kira Puru, and Kaiit.

Having introduced reusable drinking cups last year, the festival is continuing its war on waste, going cashless with a wristband paywave system.

Tickets go on sale to members of the PANAMA mailing list on November 13, and remaining tickets — if there are any left — to the public on November 20.
