pop prodigy Moonlover will give Hobart a taste of his astronomical talent this weekend.

Moonlover is the solo project of Melbourne-based artist Quang Dinh, who is best known as the bass player for former Victorian pop-rock band Little Red.

After forming in 2005, Little Red released a string of hit singles including Coca Cola, Waiting and Rock It, before splitting up in 2012.

As Moonlover, Dinh independently released three solo EPs — Wiseman Beggar Yellow Hobo, Deja Voodoo, and Lysergic Flaccid — between September 2015 and May 2016. His debut album, Thou Shall Be Free, was released in March. Moonlover is currently touring Thou Shall Be Free with a full band, playing songs from the record along with new and unreleased music.

The nine-date tour is taking in cities including Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Canberra, as well as Hobart.

Moonlover is playing with special local guest Moonglue at The Homestead in North Hobart from 8pm on Saturday. Tickets are $10 at the door.
