Win a taste of how the champions live

- ADAM SMITH

EVER wondered what it would be like to live a day in the life of a player on the WTA tour?

The Hobart International is giving one fan the opportunity to “live like a player” at next year’s tournament.

Anyone who purchases a ticket in November for the 2019 edition goes into the draw to win a player experience on finals day.

Aside from seats for the final, the winner will receive one night’s accommodation at the official tournament hotel, a prefinal lunch in the players’ restaurant, transport to and from Domain Tennis Centre, a meet and greet with the singles champion after the match and a chance to attend the champion’s media conference and photo shoot.

“We are excited to offer unprecedented access to a lucky fan,” Hobart International Tournament director Darren Sturgess said. “Enhancing fan experiences is a real focus for us at our 2019 event, so what better way to do this than offer this exciting fan prize.

“The lucky winner will get VIP treatment that includes an exclusive meet and greet with our singles champion. It is an experience we’re sure they will remember forever.”

The Hobart International has proven a springboard for emerging players to launch their careers on the WTA tour.

Dual defending champion Elise Mertens sits at a careerhigh ranking of No.13 in the world, 2014 champion Garbine Muguruza has reached No.1 in the world and has two Grand Slam titles to her belt while Petra Kvitova (2009) went on to capture a pair of Wimbledon crowns and climb to as high as No.2 in the world in 2011.
