ScoMo Express visit hint

Tassie bus tour in the mix

THE Prime Minister’s office will not be drawn on whether Scott Morrison’s bus will make its way to Tasmania.

Mr Morrison launched the ScoMo Express in Queensland ahead of a four-day journey that appeared aimed at winning the hearts and minds of voters in marginal seats.

The federal election has not yet been called and Mr Morrison disputes that visiting the key seats was the point of his trip.

The PM last month visited Tasmania — held in the federal Lower House by Labor and independen­t Andrew Wilkie — sans bus to attend the Liberal state council and announce $700,000 to improve mobile phone coverage on the state’s West Coast.

Also during his 24 hours on the island, he lauded a proposed West Coast pumped hydro project as “fair dinkum”, backed his party’s GST plan despite local opposition, visited Salamanca Market, and hinted at tying some visas to placement in regional areas.
