Beltana clear on top after win over Rosny Park

BELTANA consolidat­ed its position on top of the leaderboar­d with a solid 25-shot win over Rosny Park in Bowls Tasmania South’s Premier Division on Saturday.

Beltana jumped out to a 20shot lead before Rosny Park started to find momentum, reducing the lead to just five shots before Beltana rallied to win by 25 shots.

With 14 year-old Seth Harper playing well and Josh Tyrrell providing strong sup- port, Scott Summers defeated David Genford by 12 shots.

Shawn Leitch played some great bowls to assist Paul Williamson who beat Peter Bannister by 11 shots.

Mick Coppleman, who stepped up to replace an un- available Nick Courto, picked up four shots on the last end to salvage a draw against Connor Munnings.

Mick Sweeney was the sole winner for Rosny Park by one shot over Shane Young.

New Norfolk travelled to Howrah and came away with a solid 25-shot win. David McLean jumped out to a nine-shot lead over Morgan Williams after eight ends, eventually winning by 22 shots. Barry Bone had a come- from-behind, four-shot win over Dale Maundrill thanks to a six scored on the 17th end.

Wayne Lampkin played well to defeat Chris Chalker by two shots. Howrah’s John McKibben played some great skips bowls to beat Mitch Banks by three shots.

Sandy Bay thumped North Hobart by 81 shots. Josh Mabb beat Mark Kaye by 33 shots. Andrew Norris had a day out, defeating Ebro Jesenkovic by 27 shots. Keghan Booth and Ross Bannister had a close tussle early on, with Bannister playing some big bowls before Booth got on top, winning by 12 shots. Bryce Guy defeated Michael Rankin by nine shots.

Buckingham had to fight hard to defeat Brighton by eight shots. Isaac Maughan came from behind to defeat Greg Fehlberg by 11 shots. Alvin Cooke remains undefeated after beating Ricky Limbrick by seven shots. Mick Taylor beat Michael Daniels by five shots. Brighton secured two pennant points when Grant Wakefield defeated Darren Beattie by 15 shots.

In a tight contest, Kingboroug­h beat Glenorchy Rodman by eight shots. Brent Forsyth had a big-21 shot win over Cam Tegg and Jarod Long beat Luke Turner by one shot. Glenorchy Rodman won on the other two rinks, with Tony Vince defeating Ryan Guy by nine shots and Josh Baker beating Jason Fowler by five.
