Hobart is the capital

GREAT news re record historic mansion sale ( Mercury, November 23)! However, Launceston is not the northern capital as stated. It is the northern city of Launceston. Just another northern attempt to undermine Hobart’s capital status. Sorry northern city but Hobart is the state’s only capital. Also, all the Southern Cross news reports one hears trying to undervalue Hobart’s position with regular comments the North’s largest city, still don’t take position from the actual largest city in the state and the state’s capital Hobart. Just let it go Launceston, get over it. Enough. THE announcement of a development partner for the Kingston Park project is welcomed and presents an opportunity for government/Kingborough Council/developers to consider incorporating a regional hospital. Kingborough, Huon and Channel regions offer a substantial catchment. In addition it has the potential to ease the g burden on the RHH, ease congestion on the Southern Outlet and create jobs locally as well as enhance Kingston’s prospect of becoming a stand-alone satellite city of Hobart. Demand for hospital services in the fastest growing municipality will increase as more people move to the area. Worthy of consideration as the project plan already proposes a Health Centre.
