Deliveroo serves up another option

ANOTHER online food delivery platform and app has launched in Hobart as the battle between operators heats up.

The introduction of Deliveroo comes six months after UberEats was rolled out across the city.

Both services deliver food from local restaurants directly to people’s doors. Deliveroo charges customers between $2.95 and $6.95, depending on factors like distance and time, whereas UberEats charges a flat rate of $6.95.

Burger Got Soul owner Mathew Routley, who has listed both his Sandy Bay and North Hobart restaurants on Deliveroo and UberEats, said he believed there was room for both brands in the market.

“Deliveroo is a dedicated food delivery service with a good reputation globally and staff trained in food handling,” he said.

“Having two players creates competition meaning restaurateurs will be able to pick which of the companies provides a better commission rate.”

Deliveroo Australia country manager Levi Aron said restaurants partnered with Deliveroo had recorded revenue growths of up to 30 per cent.

“We are having lots of conversations with restaurants across Hobart about the benefits of joining Deliveroo,” he said.

Dumpling Express, Amici, All Thai, Ruckus Fried Chicken and Magic Curries are some of the restaurants already listed on the platform.
