TasWater congratulates graduates

-

For all of us, life is an ongoing time of learning and for our staff at TasWater work too brings with it the opportunity to expand skills and workplace opportunities.

Every year, TasWater staff take part in a range of training and educational opportunities with more than sixty employees recently graduating in a whole range of work place qualifications. TasWater General Manager People and safety Cathy Cuthbertson congratulated all our graduates on their new skills and knowledge, a testament to a lot of hard work and dedication. “TasWater is committed to providing education and development opportunities for all staff to ensure we have the right skills to deliver on the expectations of our customers both now and in the future.” “We are one of the state’s larger employers with staff working across a variety of areas of expertise, from field-based employees through to engineers, project managers, accountants, specialists and managers.” “With such a large and diverse workforce it is important that we reflect this in the range of training we provide to employees,” said Cathy. In this round of training, graduates achieved qualifications in the areas of water industry treatment, project management, leadership, statutory investigations and integrated water management. Included is Nicholas Clayton who works across the Derwent Valley and Central Highlands area. Nicholas said, “It’s good to be able to work locally and keep abreast of the latest skills and technology.” Nicholas’s new qualification, a Certificate III in Water Industry Treatment provides the skills to identify and manage any problems with the water treatment plants he is responsible for. “It’s satisfying to know your work contributes to the wellbeing of the community.”
